New Zealand has been shielded from much of the world's Covid pain. As we attempt to become a part of the mainstream again, we may underestimate just how much further apart we have drifted.
I sobbed. I didn’t know how badly I needed to see my parents until I actually saw them. We masked, and we hugged in the garden. Even behind their surgical masks, I could see that my parents looked alarmed. Even I was taken aback. You know, that little part of you that sees yourself, and asks what the hell is going on.
