I've noticed that I'm slower to engage in social contact these days, reminiscent of my younger self's shyness in public. Not being around the city centre for the past three years has affected me, due to various reasons including significant life changes like having young kids. My routine now mainly consists of school runs, kindergarten pickups and supermarket trips, which contributes to my initial social reticence
However, once I overcome this reluctance and make an effort to connect with others, I truly enjoy it.
I forget this too easily.
Today, for example, I had a couple of lovely conversations and even managed to get a headshot that wouldn't have been possible otherwise – all because I put myself out there again. This fulfilling experience at Tākina served as a reminder that good things happen when we step outside our comfort zones more often.
