Midlife Rewind: A Gen X Podcast in the Making
Reflecting on pop culture, getting older, and tech through the eyes of a Gen X dad navigating life between mixtapes and mindfulness apps.
Hey friends,
I’m feeling that creative itch again. You might have noticed I’ve been writing a bit more often here on Notes to Selves, favoring short, frequent reflections over long essays. Now, I’m thinking about branching out into a multi-platform podcast that taps into the same vibe.
The idea? A show rooted in my Gen X experience - growing up in the UK, living in New Zealand for 20 years, traveling internationally, being an older dad in the sandwich generation, and navigating midlife with all its questions about the future, family, and identity.
But it’s not all weighty stuff. I want to explore the fun and fascinating too: the music, books, and internet culture that shaped us, from pre-digital mixtapes to the digital lives our kids are living now.
I’d love your input:
• Would you be interested in listening to a podcast like this?
• Would you want to be a guest to share your stories and perspectives?
Drop me a comment or reply to this post. I’m really keen to hear your thoughts.
Thanks so much for being part of my thinking about this. Looking forward to hearing from you and maybe even having you on the show!
